INDUCTION LESSON

 

OBJECTIVES

Basic understanding of 2d CAD and importance of anthropometric data.

 

To design and manufacture some themed eye wear

 

OUTLINE

Design some themed sunglasses or eye wear

 

Design this on 2d design software

 

Laser cut these out in acrylic

 

Strip heat the bends

 

Glue on laser cut detail parts

 

 

 

 

YOUR TASK

Research task into a designers/designs movement who have made well known chairs.

 

Choose 3 of the below designers/movements & produce detailed design sheets using Publisher/word/PowerPoint.

 

You need to use ACCESS FM to analyse the chairs and identify the key characteristics for that Designer/ movement.

 

Charles Rennie Mackintosh, Marc Newson, Charles Eames, Robin Day, Philippe Starck, Art Deco, De Stijl, Bauhaus, Michael Thornet Pop Art, Italian design, Scandinavian Design. (can go outside this for 1 of the 3 chosen designers/chairs)

OTHER PREPARATORY WORK:

Download Fusion 360 (or Google sketch up software) at home. Take copy of Pro desktop software from school (requires a memory stick). Students are welcome to bring in own laptops to work on. Have a camera & be able to download images.

2 A3 sheets of initial sketches for a chair min 12 sketches (not a copy but influenced by or in the style of).

Analysis of sketches using ACCESS FM to decide the best ideas.
